My name is Jeremie-Pierre Maceno (but you can just call me Jeremie or JP). I’m 16 years old, a Challenge 3 survivor, Christian HipHop fanatic (indie tribe saves lives), Cornerback on the Washtenaw Saints, and a lifelong Michigander and Detroit Lions fan (I can say this because we’re good now).
This March I took part in the Michigan State Class for the first time and loved every bit of it. The classes, worship, sessions, coffeehouse, and rendezvous were so much fun and affected me far more than I ever imagined. I’ve always had an interest in politics and government, but that fire was slowly dimming. TeenPact reignited that spark for me.
I’m running for Senator so I can continue to push myself further and faster. I may be new to TeenPact, but I’m growing fast.
Vision Statement: This leads to my theme or vision statement, which is GROWTH.
Not taking a step forward in our faith is a step back. The Christian Walk is an upstream battle. If we don't push forward, we'll be dragged down with the current, and follow what is 'current' in the world. The scripture for my campaign is 2 Peter 3:17-18. Some context, Paul is talking about false teachers. Paul explains that you combat them “growing in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.” For a very long time I was lukewarm in my faith and followed the world despite being the pastor’s kid who knew all the references and stories. I didn’t read my Bible and desire to grow closer to the Lord and before I even knew it, the lazy river brought me to a cliff. Thankfully this year I’ve turned from my lukewarmness and am rediscovering and growing closer to Christ.
